Integrations
Skyelight connects to Slack, Linear and GitHub. Slack and Linear receive threads and sync replies in both directions. GitHub tells each project which repository its code lives in.
| Integration | What it does | Who connects it |
|---|---|---|
| Slack | Sends your notifications as DMs, and posts a project’s feedback to a channel, with shared threads synced both ways | DMs: each person. Channels: an owner or admin |
| Linear | Turns a thread into a Linear issue, and syncs comments and replies between them | An owner or admin |
| GitHub | Links each project to its repository, so threads link to the file and line | An owner or admin |
All three require the Pro plan or higher. Owners and admins connect each one once for the workspace in Configure Integrations. Each project then picks its own Slack channel, Linear project or repository.
If the organization moves to a plan without integrations, or its subscription lapses, the connections stay in place but stop working. Nothing is posted or synced. After an upgrade they work again without reconnecting.
Slack
Slack has two separate uses, set up in different places.
Personal DMs send your own notifications to your Slack: mentions, replies, resolved threads, assignments and invites. This works even if you’re a client using a different company’s Slack. Each person connects their own under Settings Notifications. See Notifications.
Project channels post a project’s feedback to a channel in your team’s Slack.
A channel can receive three kinds of post:
- Feedback sessions. When someone starts several threads in a row, Skyelight posts one summary after they stop, such as “Dana left 6 comments across 2 pages”, with a link to each thread. A session ends after 10 minutes without a new pin, or after an hour, whichever comes first. On by default.
- Weekly digest. New, resolved and still-open threads for the week, the number of unassigned threads, and the five threads that have waited longest. Pick the day, hour and time zone. The default is Monday at 9am. A project with nothing new, nothing resolved and nothing open gets no post. On by default.
- Shared threads. Any member except a reviewer can choose Share to #channel from a thread’s menu in the web app, the extension or the review badge’s drawer.
A shared thread stays in sync with Slack:
- Replies in Skyelight appear in the Slack thread under the author’s name. Replies in the Slack thread appear as replies in Skyelight.
- Reactions sync in both directions.
- The Slack post updates when the thread is resolved, deferred, reopened, assigned or retyped, or when its original text is edited.
- When you first share a thread, Skyelight copies its last 20 replies into the Slack thread.
- Edits and deletions of replies don’t sync, and images in Skyelight replies aren’t copied to Slack.
Skyelight never posts screenshots to Slack, because it can’t delete a copy once it is in Slack. Posts link to the thread instead, where screenshots follow your workspace’s retention period.
Disconnecting Slack in Configure stops channel posts for that workspace. Personal DMs keep working. To remove the Skyelight app from your Slack entirely, remove it in Slack.
Linear
Send any thread to Linear as an issue. Comments on the issue come back as replies on the thread, and replies on the thread go to the issue as comments.
To send a thread, choose Send to Linear from its menu in the web app, the extension or the review badge’s drawer. Any member except a reviewer can do this. The issue appears within a second or two, and the thread shows which issue it became. Sending the same thread again returns the existing issue.
How the sync works:
- The Skyelight app creates the issue, not the person who clicked, and the issue is unassigned. Your team assigns it in Linear.
- Each issue links back to its thread. A Linear comment appears on the thread with the commenter’s name.
- Status doesn’t sync. A thread is open, deferred or resolved, while your Linear team has its own workflow, so Skyelight doesn’t map one onto the other. Resolve the thread when the issue is done.
Linear treats issues created by an app as coming from an external source, and Linear’s agents don’t act on them until a member replies. This suits feedback written by people outside your company. A Linear workspace owner can change it under Linear Settings Security allowed external sources.
Coding agents that read a thread over MCP can see which Linear issue it was sent to.
GitHub
Connecting GitHub lets each project pick its repository from a list. With a repository linked, a thread left on a site built with Skyelight Build links to the file and line at the commit the page was built from. Agents reading the thread over MCP get the repository address.
The app asks for one permission: read-only access to repository metadata. It can’t read your code, diffs or commits. Skyelight stores no GitHub token and writes nothing to GitHub.
Disconnecting in Configure removes the connection in Skyelight. To uninstall the app, use your GitHub settings.
Coming soon
Configure Integrations lists Jira, Notion and Asana as coming soon.
