Threads and repliesNotifications

Notifications

Skyelight notifies you when someone mentions you, replies in a thread you’re part of, resolves one of those threads, or assigns a thread to you. Notifications appear in the app and by email, and in Slack if you connect it.

Who is notified

EventWho is notified
MentionEveryone @-mentioned in a thread or reply
ReplyThe thread’s author and everyone who has replied before
ResolvedThe author, everyone who replied, and everyone mentioned anywhere in the thread
AssignedThe person it’s assigned to

You’re never notified about your own actions, so assigning a thread to yourself doesn’t notify you. If a reply mentions you, you get the mention notification and not a separate reply notification.

Skyelight sends you at most one notification of each kind per thread per hour.

When a coding agent replies or changes a status, people are notified the same way as if the person the agent acts for had done it.

In the app

Every notification appears under the bell, with a count of unread ones. Click a notification to open the thread. Inside a workspace, the bell shows that workspace’s notifications. Elsewhere in the app, it shows the organization you’re in. You can’t turn off the bell.

By email

Email is on for all four events. To turn off an event, go to Settings Notifications. Each email shows the comment, who wrote it, and the page it’s on. View Thread opens the thread’s page with the extension or review badge ready to show the thread. If neither is on the page, the page opens without the thread.

Workspace invitations are always sent by email, whatever your settings.

In Slack

You can receive the same notifications as direct messages in your own Slack, including a Slack outside the workspace’s company, such as a client’s. Slack DMs need the workspace to be on the Pro plan or higher.

  1. Go to Settings Notifications, connect Slack, and approve the app in Slack.
  2. Connecting turns on all four events. Turn off any you don’t want.

If your company’s Slack is already connected to a Skyelight workspace, Skyelight may link you by email. In that case DMs stay off until you turn them on. Reactions you add to a DM in Slack are added to the thread.

Skyelight doesn’t send Slack DMs about threads in a workspace on the Free plan. Posting a project’s threads to a team channel is a separate feature. See Integrations.
