Agent handoff

You can mark a thread with a task for a coding agent. An agent connected over MCP reads the thread with its screenshot and source location, does the work, and replies on the same thread.

Set an agent task

On plans with coding agents (Pro and higher), you can set an agent task on a thread from My inbox. Use the Hand off menu on the thread’s row:

TaskWhat the agent is asked to do
InvestigateRead the thread and the page, and report what is going on
PlanWork out what the change is, and what it touches
FixMake the change and open it for review

Owners, admins and collaborators can set an agent task.

What the agent receives

When an agent reads the thread, it receives:

  • the whole conversation, in order;
  • the page URL and the anchor for the element;
  • the screenshot and any attached images, as images it can view;
  • the source file, line, component, commit and branch, when the site uses Skyelight Build, with a link to the file when the project has a linked repository;
  • the agent task, on its own line;
  • the Linear issue the thread was sent to, if there is one.

How the agent reports back

The agent replies on the thread with what it found or changed, and can include a link to the pull request. It can then resolve or defer the thread.

Skyelight has no bot accounts. The reply is posted as the person who connected the agent. On the remote MCP server, the reply also shows a mark naming the client, such as Claude Code or Cursor. Mentions, assignments and status changes send the same notifications as they do in the app.

Skyelight doesn’t notify agents of new work. An agent finds work by listing the threads assigned to you or checking what changed since it last looked. At the start of a session, ask your agent to work through your Skyelight inbox.
