WorkspacesOverview

Workspaces

Skyelight has two levels above your projects. The organization holds the plan, the seats and the billing. The workspace holds projects, threads and members, and decides who can see them.

The organization holds the plan and billing

Each organization has one plan, one set of seats, its own invoices and one owner. Only the owner can change the plan or the payment details. The owner can transfer the organization to someone else. See Managing users.

You can belong to more than one organization. For example, a designer can own an organization and also review for a client in the client’s organization. Each organization is billed separately, and a seat or plan in one never applies to another.

To switch organizations, open the account menu. To create a new organization of your own, click the + beside “Organizations” in the same menu. A new organization starts on the Free plan.

The workspace holds projects and members

A workspace holds projects, threads, members and settings. A person’s role in a workspace decides whether they can open it and what they can do in it. Each person can have a different role in each workspace. See Roles and permissions.

Workspaces on each plan

PlanWorkspacesHow it behaves
Free, Pro1The organization and the workspace act as one. Joining one adds you to the other, and removing someone from the workspace also removes them from the organization.
Team, EnterpriseUnlimitedSuited to agencies, with one workspace per client. Organization admins are admins in every workspace, including new ones. Other members see only the workspaces they’ve been added to.

On Team and Enterprise, a workspace role never changes a person’s organization role. Someone who is an admin in one client’s workspace does not see the organization’s other workspaces unless they are added to them.

On Free and Pro, the workspace can’t be left or deleted on its own, because it is the organization. Leave or delete the organization from Account Details instead.

Deleting and restoring

When an owner or admin deletes a workspace, it disappears for every member at once. An owner or admin can restore it within 30 days, if the plan has room for another workspace. After 30 days, Skyelight permanently deletes the workspace and its projects, threads and files.

Only the organization owner can delete the organization. Deleting it deletes every workspace in it and cancels the subscription immediately. Those workspaces can’t be restored, because the organization no longer exists.
